SIGNATURE EVENTS

The Big Bend Minority Chamber of Commerce holds over half a dozen large-scale events every year that bring the business community together for celebration, education and exploration. From events that attract nationally-known speakers, to Awards Gala’s that honor and recognize those who excel in the Big Bend, they’re all a part of the Chamber experience.

Annual Networking Golf Tournament

The BBMC Annual Golf Tournament is held To attract golfing enthusiasts at all levels to enjoy a day on the links. The gold tournament will present the perfect opportunity to entertain existing and new business clients. The tournament will also provide a networking opportunity with community and business leaders. Awards will go to the first and second place teams and prizes will be competed for throughout the golf course. Additionally, a luncheon will be a tournament feature as well as refreshments. Proceeds will benefit the Big Bend Minority Chamber of Commerce.

Inaugural Minority Business Awards Gala

Is the BBMC’s signature event that recognizes the achievements of North Florida’s top minority and women-owned businesses, dynamic industry leaders, and major corporations that are committed to supplier diversity. This upscale evening of honor and elegance brings together North Florida’s business community. Attendees have the opportunity to network while celebrating the achievement of minority and women owned businesses and professionals that are shaping the future of North Florida. The BBMC Awards Gala includes a reception, silent auction, musical entertainment, fine dining, and networking. Awards presented that evening include Corporation of the Year, MWBE Suppliers of the Year, Advocate of the Year, Chairman’s Award and the Doing Well While Doing Good Award.

Legislative Reception

The BBMC’s Welcome Back Legislative Reception has been an opportunity for individuals and small business owners to meet and greet their legislators in a comfortable and friendly environment. This event gives members the opportunity to build business relationships related to critical legislature that will affect the economic well being of minority and women-owned businesses and communities across the Big Bend.

The Dessert & Champagne Women’s Reception

The Dessert & Champagne reception is an annual event held during Women’s History Month. This event is held to honor local trailblazer women while providing a great opportunity to highlight local women-owned businesses. For more information on sponsoring this event please contact the BBMC.

The Annual Legislative Reception

For the Florida Caucus of Black State Legislators. This “Welcome Back to Tallahassee” reception is held annually to show appreciation and support for those elected officials who present more than 85% of all African American Citizens of Florida. This event draws several hundred city, county and statewide elected officials, business owners and corporate representatives in addition to community leaders and activists. Each year at this annual event, issues relative to the health, welfare and economic vitality of the minority/women business community is presented to the FCBSL for deliberations during the Legislative Session.

The BBMC Matchmaker

Is a premier activity that will draw business leaders and corporations from across the Big Bend and around the state of Florida. The event consists of a trade fair, workshops, and a luncheon that provides a forum to network and showcase minority and women business products and services. During the BBMC Matchmaker, minority and women owned businesses will network with procurement specialists from corporations, educational institutions, and government agencies; develop new contacts and resources; negotiate potential procurement contracts; and learn about trends and issues important to minority business development.

Internship Fair

The BBMC’s Collegiate Chapter and the Young Entrepreneurs Council will partner annually with numerous workforce and industry allies to promote internship opportunities in advanced manufacturing, health care, and other growth industries across the Big Bend. Residents, students, graduates and former residents are encouraged to attend this one-stop opportunity to meet directly with representatives from companies that will be hiring interns for 2014.
